A turkey trot is a fun run or footrace, usually of the long distance variety. It originated in the USA as a Thanksgiving Day event.
The Sydney Metropolitan Turkey Trot is unique in that it includes a navigational component.
In 2026 the event will be held on the first Saturday in July.

WHO Cup + AGM
The annual competition for the fastest male and female in our club.
For the "also rans" there is the Chris Crane Handicap Cup.
The date for 2026 is Sunday 6 December. The event is usually held as a club option in the West Sydney Orienteering Series. The AGM follows at 1:30pm. Our secretary will email members with the details and agenda.
State League events are open to everyone and have courses designed for beginners right up to experts.

The Sydney MapRun series offers great orienteering in Sydney, utilising the city's best parks, reserves, beaches, harbour-side and bush areas.
The West Sydney Orienteering Series are summer orienteering events in Western Sydney Parklands.
Western & Hills organised the 7 December event in Ted Horwood Reserve and the 8 February event at Toongabbie.
These events are held on Saturday mornings during school terms with a mix of line and score courses to suit all family members.
